Questions

Here are the questions you will be asked if you decide to participate in the online forums. The questions are intended as prompts to initiate discussion. You are invited to propose your own questions, and to take up matters raised by others in their posts.

Week 1- Introductions
Tell me a little about yourself and the group you moderate.
How did you become the moderator of your group?
What do you perceive your tasks as moderator to be?
How much time do you spend per week moderating your group?

Week 2 - Disruption
What kinds of things are most likely to disrupt your group?
What do you do to prevent disruptive behaviour in your group?
What do you do to stop disruptive behaviour if it happens?
Where do you go for support if moderating your group becomes difficult?

Week 3 - Norms and laws
Do you think that the ways people behave online have changed since you started using the Internet? If so, how have these changes affected the decisions you make as a moderator?

Have your experiences moderating discussion groups ever caused you to reflect on how language and cultural differences affect the discussion?

Have you ever been concerned that moderating your group might result in legal action? Without giving any identifying details, explain in general terms what concerned you.
