BENDOC COMMUNITY HOUSE
Bendoc Community House (BCH) is where anyone can come to have a yarn
or to Fax or Phone any service for a small fee, access Government information,
Shire Information and contacts, email services, printing and of course
Adult Education.
This initiative is to provide a meeting place for the community near
and far. To provide educational outings to relieve the pressure of normal
of life and to encourage further education amongst the community.
The Office has 2 x computers one with Internet access, and Satellite
connection coming early next month will increase the speed of downloads
by 10 fold increase the upload is slight. Downloads – To transfer a file
over a modem from a computer to your desktop computer. Technically, transfer
from a large computer to a smaller computer. Upload – to transfer a file
over a modem from a desktop computer to a remote computer.
This will increase the value of programs being downloaded in a short
time rather than over a long period.
Education for all is the main aim of a Community house, even just to
brush up on any skill that may be neglected over the years.
The Bendoc Wheel goes out each month, and any contributions for the
Wheel is always welcome as it is a community newsletter.
The Community House is under utillised because it is small and cramped
at the moment, till the Rural Transaction Centre is up and running which
will provide a larger area for all the community. The RTC will be used
as an Internet Café to provide a place for education online
and provide an email service. Cooking classes can be held in the RTC and
provide a snack for anyone who drops in.
The RTC will be a place to gain more than just a meeting
place.
It will be a community centre.
Distillation & Final Processing of Essential Oils Course
Jeff Allen from Essential Harvests, Beechworth Victoria
will be holding a workshop in September for “ The Distillation and
Final Processing of Essential Oils on a Small
to Medium Scale” Operation.
This workshop will be of interest to all who are interested
in valuing adding their property, with growing organic herbs and distillation
of the oil for sale. Not only is the oil in demand, but also the water
from the oil.
Jeff also buys herbs and oil from growers. Jeff, has
done workshops at the Lavender House in Bombala with people coming to it
as far a field as Bega and Jindabyne.
Please register early to gain a place. The cost of the
workshop will be approximately $30 each.
This is another example of bringing progress to Bendoc
by providing education in fields that are not foreign to that which is
already being done now.
More information as the time gets closer.
