Volunteer Charter

Work is progressing on the Volunteer Charter and the consultation process occuring with volunteers. A total of eleven meetings, including two telephone conferences were held between 11 March and 12 April. Specific contact has been made with over 170 Brigades through direct meetings and written feedback. The Charter has been discussed at 40 Regional Council Meetings of Associations and at both Association Executives.

The Steering Committee were delighted with the extent of feedback. At the meetings, there was overwhelming support forth concept of a Volunteer Charter and for the themes the charter contained. All possible opportunites were taken to incorporate the suggestions. Although not all the suggestions have been included, the committee carefully considered all input. The original draft Charter along with feedback with all eleven meetings have been posted on both Association websites

www.vicnet.net.au/~vrfba/charter.html

The Volunteer Charter will now be forwarded to the authority for consideration (May and June) and then to the Government for discussion (July).

All those who participated in th feedback meetings are thanked for their input.

For further information contact Ken Baxter 0417 707 649 and Neville Pulham 0427 456 180, your volunteers.
