The Real Story

The real story behind the management arrangement for the Bendoc Hall.
Following is an extract from a letter  written to the Chair of the BPA Inc, Mrs. E. Cameron from Mr. C. Walker Community Planner of the East Gippsland Shire dated the 19 June 2001.

As  you are aware, for a number of years the Bendoc Progress  Association Inc had managed the Hall. This was an  arrangement  put in place by the former Shire of Orbost prior to Council amalgamations in December 1994.

Our investigations in 1998 revealed that the management  arrangement had not been           formalised. As a result Council  decided it would like to formalise the management arrangements  over the Hall. While activities of the Bendoc Progress Association in       improving the Hall and other community facilities was acknowledged it was also determined that the BPA was not a community Hall management committee.

The East Gippsland Shire’s intention was to establish a community committee over the Bendoc Memorial Hall. This was in line with Council’s current philosophy of community management of Council facilities. Council achieved this by incorporating an association to manage the facility on the community’s behalf. This was duly done in February 1999.

The East Gippsland Shire Council  formally acknowledges that the Bendoc Progress Association undertook extensive improvements to the Hall and Reserve while it was a responsible for the management between 1994 and 1999. The Hall would not be in the excellent state it is today without the work undertaken by the BPA.

Any suggestion that the BPA were “kicked out” of the Hall is unfounded and I can understand that the BPA would take offense at such a suggestion.

Update on TV for Bendoc Victoria

Due to misinformation in the community the following communication was received from the technician.

Part of the assessment carried out was to calculate interference from co-channel TV transmitters received in Bendoc and also calculate the interference protection radiated from Bendoc to distant TV  areas using the same set of TV channels below. The ABA accordingly was         advised to use 4 channels with the following services: -

WIN channel 60,
Imparja channel 63,
SBS channel 66,
ABC channel 69.

INTERFERENCE ANALYSIS:-
Canberra channels are retransmitted from various sites around your area and if they happen to be retransmitted on the above CH, 60, 63, 66, 69 then yes they will be interfered with by the Mt Delegate proposed TV site transmission.

If you are now receiving adjacent channels... 59, 61,62,64,65,67,68 then you may receive interference from Mt Delegate TV transmissions depending where you live in and around Bendoc.

Any channel below 59 will not be interfered with.

Bendoc residents presently receive TV from Victoria & NSW and if  this is the case, then some well placed households could receive up to 12 channels once the proposed TV site at Mt Delegate is completed.
