 BENDOC CONNECTED

On the May 4 at Bendoc Community Memorial Hall, interested parties  assembled to discuss and decide:
1. Did Bendoc want a RTC?
The answer was YES unanimously.
2. What services would be involved in the RTC?
An advisory committee is to be formed under the BPA Inc to advise of what services are required in the RTC.
3. Location
This was decided by the Chair, Mr. P. McGauran MP, Federal Member for East Gippsland, after a discussion was held The location of the RTC is going to be on the corner of Dowling  Street and Clarksville Road, Bendoc  opposite the Hotel, at the original site as per the submission. In attendance was Mr. P. McGauran MP, Mr. L. Hiscock, Field Officer for RTC including Bendoc and Delegate, Mr. C. Walker from the East Gippsland Shire and                 Mr. P. Ward, CEO of  Telstra Gippsland.
The advisory committee will be open to all interested parties, and will be chaired by Mr. L. Hiscock, RTC Field Officer.
Mr. P. Ward CEO of  Telstra was asked about the future of the POP at Tubbut. He said that it will be taken over by Telstra’s Big Pond as it is local call access.
The support for the Rural Transaction Centre was  evident at the meeting with members of the wider community supporting an infrastructure that will connect Bendoc to the  future.
Members of the BPA Inc were delighted with the decision which should never have got to this situation.
Progress in any town is for the betterment of a community.
Mr. P. M McGauran said at the meeting that it was going to be sorted today (Friday)  as it had gone on long enough and had cause considerably grief to certain members of the community who had worked for the community and Gippsland

Thanks to the BPA Inc
Mr. Mrs. Rodwell of Lower Bendoc thanked the Bendoc Progress Association Inc for the work in achieving for them a high quality road equal to a ‘ highway’ and bridge which will make life   easier in the future in connecting to what is taken for granted. The road and bridges at Lower Bendoc have been upgraded by the East Gippsland Shire after requests and community consultation with the Shire for better road conditions. This was done through the Bendoc Outreach Centre as part of the contact with the community.

The Bendoc Outreach Centre is opened most days at the “ Office“ (Tin Shed).
