Written submissions to be lodged by close of business on Wednesday
23 May 2001 or delivered to Outreach Centre to the proposal of an increase
of Councillor & Mayor Allowance.
At its meeting of 23 April 2001 , the EGSC determined that effective
from 1 July 2001 to 30 June 2003, it tends to increase the level of annual
Councillor & Mayoral allowances as follows:
Councillors Allowance- $ 15,000 (currently $12,000); and
Mayoral Allowance- $46.500 (currently $36,000)

On Electoral Review
The Shire has released a report that considers five different options
and urge residents to comment in writing before December 31 2001. The issue
will also be listed for discussion at community consultation sessions throughout
the year.
The key features of the five options presented are:
Two wards (current structure)- six councillors
Unsubdivided – five to twelve councillors
Two wards (east & west) - five to ten councillors
Two wards (rural & urban) - nine councillors; and
One councillors wards – five to twelve councillors
Mayor Tom Courtney said the council does not have a firm position and
is keen to receive comments from the community.

KEITH IS ‘KING OF THE ROAD’
Keith Ridout’s office desk is a dashboard….his seat overlooks a constantly
changing vista of lakes, mountains and rivers… and when he stops for a
break, hundreds of people call in and say d’day.
It is a demanding job that has seen Keith travel more than one million
kilometres on one of th most rtemote network of roads in Victoria, for
the past 37 years
On Saturday 28 April 2001 Keith Ridout won the Victorian Mobile Library
Operator of the year Title.
Acting library Cordinator Anna Cook believes Keith’s award was well
deserved.
Shire warns against ‘Highway’ Robbery
A recent theft of roadway gravel has promoted a warning from EGSC.
Chief Executive Mr. J. Cullen said Ït is expensive to maintain
our roads and the Council will not hestitate to prosecute anyone”. Mr.
