Eurobodalla Council seeks feedback on charcoal battle
Eurobodalla residents, on the New South Wales south coast, will receive a survey form early next week asking what role their council should take in the legal battle to stop a charcoal factory being built near Mogo.
The council will begin mailing the forms out today.
The survey puts four options to the community and asks what action residents think council should take following development approval for the Mogo charcoal factory from the Minister for Planning.
Options include allocating up to $3 million to fund independent legal action, or investing $50,000 on a dollar-for-dollar basis to the Coastwatchers appeal to the Land and Environment Court.
The third option asks whether council should pursue a joint appeal with others and allocate ratepayer funds to the action and the fourth asks should council take no further legal action at all.
The four-page information sheet and survey is being mailed to all ratepayers, with copies at council's libraries or depots for other residents.
The survey will run for 28 days, closing on June 14.
