PERFORMER PROFILE
JEFF ASCHMANN
Jeff Aschmann is one of the most diversified talents currently
based in the South East Region of Australia. Not only is he a
singer and musician but he is also in considerable demand as a
puppeteer at festivals such as Cobargo Folk Festival and Tilba
Festival. His puppet shows feature native Australian animals and
as a qualified teacher he is also able to weave a strong education
theme into his popular act. He is also a busker with many years
experience.
Although he has a performing career going back over 25 years
it is only in recent times that Jeff Aschmann has discovered his
gift for song-writing. In a very short space of time he has amassed
considerable credit for his craft:
- Tamworth Independent Artists Recognition Awards (TIARA) Finalist
in 1998 for "Dreamtime Christmas". Musoz finalist 2001,
Gold Record USA 2002
- Tamworth Songwriters Association Finalist in 2000 for "El
Nino"
- Songs sung by major Australian choirs (Queensland State Choir
and Australian Children's Choir) include "Dreamtime Christmas"
and "Humpbacks Sing For the World".
- Received an International Star Award for song-writing excellence
from Nashville. "Country Lady" peaked at #99 on US
International Country Chart.
- "Humpbacks Sing for the World" chosen as the theme
song for the International Whale and Dolphin Conference in Hervey
Bay in 1998.
- Songs published by Scholastic Australia: "Humpbacks
Sing for the World", "Dreamtime Christmas" and
"Australian Country Christmas Rap"
- Song published in ABC Sing Songbook in 1999: "Dreamtime
Christmas".
- Wrote "Woman Off the Land" and recorded with Leanda
O'Brien. Reached #89 on Mildura Hot 100 country songs in December,
2000. Nashgrill Mention 2002.
- Songs have been on numerous international compilation CD's
including NFS, Australian Music Abroad and Charlie Ray in Nashville.
LBS, Country Collection 2002
- Produced 3 of his own CDs: "El Nino", "Songs
of Australiana" and "Woman Off the Land" which
all comprise original material.
Jeff continues to write and perform his songs and shows throughout
the South East of NSW, reaching a much wider audience in the New
Millenium.
