Search

Instead of using the rather slow site search engine below, you can install
Google Toolbar (advanced options are not needed) which allows you to search a specific web site. When installed, go to the Charcoalition home page and enter your search criteria but INCLUDE the word Charcoalition then click "Search Site". For example, if you wanted to search for all pages on the Charcoalition web site that contained the word "silicon", you would enter "charcoalition silicon" into the google toolbar.

ORIGINAL SEARCH ENGINE

Unfortunately you cannot use the Charcoalition search engine as you do not have a JavaŽ-enabled browser. If you have Netscape, Microsoft Internet Explorer, or another browser that can handle Java, then you need to enable Java in your browser settings then restart your browser. Otherwise you need to obtain a Java-capable browser.

If you just see a grey box - be patient while the search applet loads!

INSTRUCTIONS:

Note: this search engine is slow - it has to load text from every page on the site
(we can't afford a faster one!)

Enter a text string in the white box. Check one of the boxes Or, And or Phrase, then click on Start to search the entire Charcoalition site. You may Stop the search at any time. Double click on a link in the grey area of the search engine to open a page.

You can either wait for the search to finish then double click on a link, or when a link first appears you can double click on it and view that page in a separate browser window while the search continues in the original browser window.

You will see the search progress as each page is extracted and searched - it may take a few minutes.

Query rules
You can enter partial words if "Or" or "And" are checked, for example, if you enter "char", it will find "charcoalition" etc. However, if you check "Phrase", then it will search for the complete phrase (but you can leave off leading and trailing characters from the phrase - for example, if you are looking for the phrase "contact details", then search text "con det" will find it).

Do not enclose text in quotes or include a leading space. Do not include other search modifiers (usually available on a search engine) such as the words AND, NOT, OR; or characters + or -.
