Who will save Broulee from this desecration?
As I sit listening to the waves on the beach I treasure this moment. Soon a decision is to be made on whether to allow a project of ``state significance", ie, a huge charcoal-producing plant which we will hear, see and sometimes smell from our beautiful village of Broulee.

Thousands of people have gathered to oppose it, a record number of submissions have been lodged against it, and yet, it seems, our community may be expendable politically in state Labor's quest for votes at Lithgow, where the charcoal made by clearing our beautiful forests will be transported.

Many families and retirees have made good lives here attracted by the pristine environment and ecotourism employment opportunities. I wonder how many readers would choose to holiday near the smokestacks?

Dave Hounsell,

Broulee, March 14.
