THE S-E FORESTS 2nd JULY 2006 MASS RALLY COALITION
INVITATION TO SUPPORT THE S-E FORESTS MASS RALLY TO BE HELD ON
2 JULY 2006 AT THE WOODCHIP MILL IN EDEN.
As you know the woodchip mill at Eden (South East Fibre Exports) has been operating for more than 30yrs. More than 30 million tons of whole logs have been delivered to the mill in that time. Most of the trees for these logs have been sourced from publicly owned State Forests in NSW and Victoria.
A MASS RALLY, at the entrance to the Eden chip mill, is being planned for 2 July. The rally is widely supported by groups in south-east NSW and Victoria as well as some peak organisations. It will involve supporters from Sydney, Canberra, Wollongong, Victoria and surrounding regional areas.
The last mass rally, as you may remember, was held 18 years ago when more than 2000 people attended. We hope to at least match this number in July. It is timely to raise the profile of this issue in the run up to the NSW and Victorian elections.
The rally is intended to be lawful, done with police permission and cooperation, and is on public land near the entrance to the Chipmill on Edrom Road, south of Eden. We are serving Notice of Public Assembly to the Batemans Bay Police Commander.
To be successful the MASS RALLY must be huge. Large numbers will add weight to our efforts to alert the public to the ravages of wood chipping that are still being inflicted on our native forests despite a promise by Bob Carr to end native forest wood chipping by the year 2000.
Everyone needs to make an effort to get themselves and other people to the rally. The MASS RALLY and associated activities will be educational, entertaining and fun. If you belong to an organisation that would like to be added to list of groups in the MASS RALLY Coalition please contact:

The organising leaflet has been posted on our website at : www.woodchippingsux.net.au. Details of accommodation in the Eden area will be appearing shortly. Other information will be posted over the coming weeks.

a) An information leaflet which is intended for distribution to members of your organisation as well as to the public. They could be distributed at markets, shopping centres, libraries, educational institutions and on stalls or notice boards. A copy has been posted on our web site.
b) An informative article which could be included in newsletters.
