For the third year in a row, Australian Ethical Investment Limited, has recognised the work of The Coastwatchers Association by making a very generous donation to The Coastwatchers Environment Fund.
"We were thrilled to receive $6,000 this year from Australian Ethical Investment," says Jenny Edwards, Secretary of The Coastwatchers Association.
"Since its inception the Fund, authorised to receive tax deductible donations of money or property, has grown steadily and we are very grateful for the generous support we have received from many individuals and businesses."
Mrs Edwards went on to say, "The Environment Fund is completely separate and is not used to run the Association. It has its own management committee that allocates funds for specific purposes - such as environmental education."
All local schools to benefit
One of the next projects will be to purchase books about the marine environment and about climate change for school libraries in the Shire. "We want children to learn more about the very special marine life that is found in in the new Marine Park," Mrs Edwards explained.
"Climate change is going to have an enormous impact on our kids and future generations. Australians emit more greenhouse gases per person than any other nation. We want students to understand the problem and, most importantly, to know what they and their families can do to help reduce global warming."
"Families in Bega Shire have led the way with the Clean
Energy for Eternity campaign. Now is the chance for Eurobodalla
people to show they too care about the future. A meeting will
be held at the RSL Hall in Moruya on Monday 13 November starting
at 5.30pm to give people this opportunity."
