Barlings Beach Development

Dear Mr Anderson

After queries from several of our members we are writing to ask what happens to development conditions if an approved development is sold.

The reasons for the enquiry are the changes that appear to be happening at Barlings Beach (Dept of Planning DA 77-03-2002 and subsequent DCP).  We understand there is an application to reduce the size of some of the lots; there has been no revegetation of the dune; and the drainage system using swales does not seem to be being implemented.

Since this is only stage one of the subdivision we wonder what relationship to the original approval the final development will have.  What was the point of having all the public consultation and finally reaching a compromise solution that was reasonably acceptable to all if the development is then cumulatively substantially modified as construction proceeds?

Our question relates to all approved developments but particularly large ones.  The approved major development of Mann’s farm north of Barlings Wetland ( Dept of Planning MP 05_0199) is another that is currently on the market.

Thank you in anticipation of your response.  Our members will be very interested in your answers to these questions.

Yours sincerely

for the secretary
