HAND IN HAND

[Slow, meditative].

Hand in hand through darkness and through noonday light
Hand in hand through tragedy and deep delight
When the news is bad
And people are sad
Please won't you take me
Hand in hand

Hand in hand past broken lives and wasted years
Hand in hand past ragged cliffs and lakes of tears
But it's afternoon
With the sun in our room
When you take me and I take you
Hand in hand

Hand in hand upon the road to somewhere new
Hand in hand through mystery among the few
Where the rocks and trees
And the birds and bees
Beckon us to travel on
Hand in hand

Hand in hand through wedding vows and funeral bells
Hand in hand past sacred cows and spiral shells
When the moon is gone
Won't be gone for long
You know she'll be back here when we're
Hand in hand

Hand in hand through dreams of steam and dreams of earth
Hand in hand so we may know what each is worth
If the pen won't speak
And you're feeling weak
Walk a little way with me
Hand in hand

Hand in hand when hope is gone and nothing works
Hand in hand when birds have flown and serpents lurk
But your will is my command
Draw a smile in the sand
And beckon me to take you
Hand in hand
