INSPIRATION

[Rollicking Celtic feel].

Long ago and far away there lived a little boy
With music dancing in his heart and friends instead of toys
If no one else could see them well he really didn't care
And in a little book he wrote the things they told him there

He wasn't like the other boys that much at least was clear
He had a coloured kite that flew, he liked to tug his ear
He had a little leather bag and lots of funny hats
He liked to play with mice and he liked to play with cats

The little boy got older and the friends they went away
They made him wear a uniform and go to school each day
The little boy got very sick and then he did get well
He got on lots of stages but his secrets didn't tell

He hoped one day he'd meet a girl with sparkling blue eyes
Someone who would be true to him and never tell him lies
Someone to teach him of the world and help him learn to touch
Someone to tantalise him and to love him very much

But still that day was far away, the school it was a gaol
The hopes and dreams were put away, the boxes they were nailed
His parents said they loved him but they shouted through the night
And when it all came crashing down the stories did take flight

The little boy still didn't know just what it was he'd lost
He'd reached the raging river but he could not get across
The bridge was there in front of him and yet he couldn't see
The special one in front of him, the forest for the trees

And then one day he saw the girl with sparkling blue eyes
She took him to a special place and with him she did lie
She taught him something of the world and all its secret laws
She gave him inspiration and she gave him so much more

The stories they came back just like they'd never been away
And this time they did tell him that they'd come back home to stay
With music dancing in his heart he kissed to thank her for
The gift of inspiration and the gift of so much more
