NEW AMERICA

[Rollicking ballad].

In New America, there ain't gonna be no CIA
Just a million megaphones, yeah everybody's gonna have a say
Bow ties will be compulsory with fines for wearing wigs
Democracy kept safe with no elections left to rig
Liberty, she'll wear a top hat, in New America

In New America each girl will find the stranger of her dreams
She'll order him on floppy disk and always know exactly where he's been
And when she's bored she'll spit him out and dial another dream
There'll be no need for rubber gloves, no messy in-betweens
Sex will be quite dignified, in New America

In New America, there ain't gonna be no black or white
Everyone'll be mid-grey, and that way there won't be so many fights
It's gonna be quite hot, there won't be much call for clothes
Everyone will look the same, the shops will never close
And everybody travels first class, in New America

In New America, children will arrive by US mail
You can always send them back, if they get too big or if they wail
But there won't be no teenagers to clutter up the street
No drug addicted zombies, sleeping on their feet
They'll all be out of sight, in New America

In New America, you stay at home and God will come to you
There's Moses at the shopping mall and Jesus Christ each day on Channel 2
And if he sells out to Japan, you can always freeze your head
Or nail yourself on to the cross that hangs above your bed
But check you've got a Bible 'fore you swear - in New America

[solo].

In New America the poets will be kept down at the zoo
You can go and visit them each weekend if you've nothing else to do
If you think you hear them jabbering, 'Is this the land of the free?'
Well let me tell ya son, there's free and then there's cheap
But you'll get ten free bullets with each gun sold, in New America
