SHINING EYES

Shining in the moonlight
Shining in the midday sun
Shining eyes talk to me
Tell me I'm the only one
Strange lights on the horizon, in the field a man with a gun
But all I see are shining eyes

Shining by a wooden bridge
Buckled in the heat
Shining down amongst the trees
In a forest deep
Rocks are in shadow and I hear the spirits weep
But all I see are shining eyes

Shining in the ocean
Through a pane of glass
Through the ghosts of all of those
Who said it couldn't last
Angry people reach for me and I feel them pass
But all I see are shining eyes

Shining like strange precious jewels
Or like new-born stars
In a sky of history
Blue and clear and far
Wonder what it means and what you really truly are
But all I see are shining eyes

Shining through the laughter
Shining through the tears
Shining through the bitterness
And the wasted years
Don't you close your eyes now, when we are so near
'Cause all I want to see are shining eyes
