THE LAST

[Swirling].

Tail of a fish
Mind of a woman
Swirling beneath
Way down below
Out of sight
Nails like razors
She cuts the nets
But she is one
And they are many
Stealing her world

She is the last
She is the only
She is so lonely
She has always been here

Thumping propellers
Sonar and chatter
Missiles and bombs
Drowning her song
Drowning her reason to be
Once was a time
When she was many
Now in her mirror
Only one friend
Softly she sings

I am the last
I am the only
I am so lonely
I have always been here

Angered by waste
Wounded by greed
Feeling each tear
Each drop of blood
That reaches the sea
So much pain
So much hatred

Sad broken love
She curls up tight
And weeps

Oh can she last
Being the only
Always so lonely
Will she always be here?

Swims far away
Follows the rainbow
Follows the curve
Of the earth
Of the sea
She finds a bay
She finds a beach
There she does sleep
There she does dream

Opens her eyes
He looks back at her
Legs of a goat
Face of a man
He smiles

She's not the last
She's not the only
No longer lonely
She will always be here
