TREMBLING SKY

[Like an approaching storm].

Was a day like today but different too somehow
Was a day when I thought there was no time in the world but now
Was a day when there was you and there was me and there was no one else around
Yeah there was no one else but us and the land
And that trembling sky

Been a long way down a crooked road with your hand in mine
Been a long time in the belly of the night with your skin on mine
Been five summers since the very first time I saw your eyes shine
By moonlight in the arms of a tree
'Neath that trembling sky

Been a real education for a little boy lost like me
Like an animal raised in a cage, and then set free
Yeah set free in a jungle full of magic and mystery
But I never was afraid
Not with you and that trembling sky

I remember days of mountains and days of plains
I remember weeks of drought and weeks of rain
I remember months of happiness and pain
But most of all I remember you
Yeah and that trembling sky

Hope you don't pay no heed to my stupidity and rage
Hope you don't take no notice of what's written on yesterday's page
Hope you don't feel constrained by the threads that keep us connected
Hope you look up sometimes and find me there
In the trembling sky

[organ solo].

If the future's a blur and the past is a big black hole
If you feel like the demons are trying to steal your soul
If we're apart like tonight and I'm wanting you wanting me so
Just remember the day when I held you
'Neath that trembling sky
