Merimbula Sailboard Club presents The 28th Mambo Merimbula Classic incorporating the NAISH SUP section 27th to 30th November 2008 The world's longest running, wave sailing competition is back again in 2008.
With just 3 weeks to go everything is shaping up well for the 28th annual event. This year, so there is something to do while waiting for the wind, the Stand Up Paddlers are welcome to get out there and go for it, utilising all the established rules such as... no whingeing, and be kind to the BBQ cooks, and don't be a dickhead in the water
There will be trophies and a NAISH SUP board valued at over $2,000 as first prize in the SUP division. Of course all you wave sailers and kite surfers will be rewarded handsomely, as usual, with an amazing array of goodies being offered by our wonderful, generous sponsors.Check out the sponsors page for a look at who is helping to fill up our treasure chest this year. We are overwhelmed by the generosity of all these guys and gals and we thank them all. The full programme is available here, and more information can be obtained by sending John an email

Well, here we are… spring has sprung and the NE sea breezes are freshening. Interest in this years contest is really starting to blow our way too. What with “stand up paddling” on the agenda… the Mambo just grows and grows. Yes, Naish is placing a $2000 paddle board on the prize table just to paddle this along. And not only that…. You will be AMAZED at the prizes big companies ( and little ones too) are bringing to this year’s Mambo. Now we know you come to Merimbula for the FUN, and the PARTIES… but just to make it imperative to be here, check out our sponsor’s page. These guys are seriously generous. Our sponsors are our kings. I’ve always thought of the Mambo presentation as a sort of pre-xmas gift fest. It seems we use it to celebrate our AMAZING love of surf, and having fun. So far I’ve counted over 70 sponsors, and I imagine the traditional xmas in December will be just a shadow, compared to the really REAL thing. (yeah…it’s gonna be unreal… really) Please thank the sponsors by buying your gear from them. The actual “King Mambo” trophy
for last year was taken out by Matt Tobin for demonstrating his cool
moves
both in
the waves AND on the dance floor. (And the year before by Stewie
Martin for his impersonation of a Broke Back Mountain gay cowboy).
We don’t know what’s going down this year, so just let’s
leave you with the old cliché “
anything can happen… and it probably will” This year we will have a professional kite and sail repair service on site. Click here to see the service offered by Xilarate. Check out this great site on everything you ever wanted to know about kiting |
