Merimbula Sailboard Club presents the 23rd annual Malibu surfing contest

The MALIGATOR

As flood waters ravished the North Coast and wiped out the beaches, the sun shone on Merimbula and the surf pumped. The surf tribe gathered for its annual contest to sort out who would be the Malligator champion. In very contestable 3-4ft waves a mix of locals and travellers battled it out. A great display of Malibu surfing was on show all day and in the end it was Christian Pimm who came out on top, beating Ray Laurence (2nd) and Phil Overend (3rd). Other finalists, Kane McKill, Glenn Wright and Sean Chivers also demonstrated how they progressed through the heats with a good mix of nose-riding, reo's and floaters in the punchy lefts and rights. Divisional winners included Clancy Mills (Juniors), Sam Mills (Open Mens), Chris Wright (Masters), Mark Trayner (Veterans), Dave Prowse (Legends), Henry Jones (Dead Set Legends), Marley Rees (Womens) and Ben Mills (Best Local).
