Merimbula is situated on the Far South coast of New South Wales. It is 465km south of Sydney, 586km North East from Melbourne and 240km South East from Canberra.

The area has a thriving tourism industry due to its beautiful beaches, lakes and stunning scenery around the district.

There are many places to stay in and around Merimbula including apartments, motels and carvan parks. As the contest is based on Merimbula's Main Beach (Ford Oval) most prefer to stay in the "Fishpen" area between the lake and the ocean, either in units or in one of two camping grounds.
