ANSA Convention

Annual Convention

The first weekend of March every year is the time of our annual ANSA convention which is possibly our major event so far as organisation is concerned. We send invitations to all ANSA-affiliated clubs and in 1999 had 198 entrants and nearly 70 trailer-boats.

The convention takes a lot of organising by the committee and assistance from members is always welcomed and anybody able to give a few hours help should let the office know.

There has been considerable discussion about just when the first convention was conducted but our research seems to indicate that it was in 1971, at Mystery Bay, under the title of “2nd ANSA Inter-Club Convention” - the first “inter-club” convention having been held in Nowra. This makes it one of the longest running events of its kind in Australia. During the 1970s and 1980s it was one of the largest in the country and at one time the largest in the Southern Hemisphere!

The “Catering Corp” and “The Kidz in the Kitchen” do fantastic jobs. These ladies organise the catering for most of our functions and anybody attending our Christmas Parties would agree they can put many high class restaurants to shame. Again, anybody willing to help should speak to a committee person at the club on a Friday night.
